John had always loved bicycling and had always been a very good competitor. When he was young, he rode his bike all around the neighborhood to all hours of the night. He was not often willing to take a chance of losing in a competition; today was no different. He was racing with all his might, and although a very strong competitor was right behind him, John kept his cool and kept riding his bike as fast as he could. John didn't care about the trophies or the fame that he would receive if he was the first one to cross the finish line (although he thought that would be nice), he was more concerned about the self satisfaction he would get out of being the best in the race and following his passion. Unfortunately, the crowd was not all too supportive of John. They had their favorites, and for some reason, John was not one of them. John still was content with himself and his position as the leader of the race, and he would go on to win the race for his own self-satisfaction, not to please others, but to please himself.
